Foster Care Fortnight 2016

Foster Care Fortnight is the Fostering Network's annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering. It is the UK's biggest foster carer recruitment campaign.

This year Foster Care Fortnight is scheduled to take place on:
Monday 16th May 2016 - Sunday 29th May 2016

This is later than usual because of the general election scheduled for early May 2015.

This year's theme is: Time to Foster, Time to Care.

The pressure to recruit new foster carers is ongoing. With reference to the fostering network,  Fostering services recruited over 6,000 new foster carers in 2014/15, which was a great achievement.

However, this was a significant  reduction on 2013/14 and fell far short of The Fostering Network’s recruitment target of 8,370. The challenge remains: The Fostering Network calculates that a further 9,070 fostering families are needed in 2016. Now is the time to foster…now is the time to care.

Can you think of a favourite time last year that you would like to share?

Could you make a connection and change a life?

Last year theme was make a connection and the theme for 2014 was  ‘Can you guess who fosters?

Guess Who Fosters

  • What does a foster carer look like?
  • What does it take to be a foster carer?
  • What skills and qualities do I need to have?

Above are some common questions we get asked here at FSG.

Underneath the calm exterior, the people who join our agency are people like you and me whose main objective is caring for and supporting the needs of a child or young person.

We provide training and support 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Our carers are trained and supported to care for vulnerable children in your local area.

Could this be you?

Carers Award Ceremony 2016

On Saturday 11th June 2016 FSG foster carers and staff assembled in the borough of Bromley to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all those who help to improve the lives of the young people within their care. The event took place in a prestigious hotel and carers from Kent, Sussex and London were invited to attend.

The evening commenced with welcome drinks and the awards followed. Foster carers and staff dined in style on an enjoyable 3 course meal, receiving high quality service. As the evening proceeded we had a raffle with both staff and carers wining prizes. Towards the end of the evening, staff and carers made their way to the dance floor for a celebratory dance off.
